What is the Gambling Awareness Research Initiative (GARI)?

GARI was launched in 2023 as a partnership between the Springfield Department of Health and Human Services, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the New North Citizens’ Council, and the Young Adult Action Collective (YAAC).

Mission

Our mission is to empower and inspire young individuals to raise awareness and prevent gambling harm through innovative research and the transformative power of art. By fostering empathy and understanding of diverse experiences, we aim to drive change and spark meaningful conversations and action to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.
